Elaine Norton

Elaine Norton is an assistant profession in the Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Arizona. She investigates complex genetic traits in horses, with the goal of improving horse health and well-being. Currently, she is focusing on expanding the understanding of the pathophysiology of EMS allow for early detection of high-risk individuals prior to onset of clinical disease. She is also exploring the interactions between EMS genetic risk factors and the environment. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2009, Masters of Science from Auburn University in 2013 and became a diplomat of the Amercian College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2014. She then completed her PhD at the University of Minnesota in 2019 before becoming faculty at the University of Arizona.
